SALARY
ANNUAL PAY INCREASE
LAPD offers competitive pay and gives full-time officers an average raise of $4,400 per year, while in the same position.
ANNUAL COST OF LIVING ALLOWANCE
Along with the yearly salary raise, there is an additional 1.5% annual cost of living increase, on average, for LAPD officers.

Earn over $70,000 a year while developing your skills at the best police academy in the nation.

HOUSING
LAPD supports officers by providing rent assistance up to $24,000 for the first two years of employment to those who qualify.
STUDENT LOAN FORGIVENESS
Your Direct-student loans can be forgiven through the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.

QUALIFICATIONS
Since Los Angeles Police Officers are entrusted with keeping the city safe from crime and corruption, we are looking for upstanding persons that are looking to serve.
AGE REQUIREMENT
You must be at least 20 years old to apply and 21 years old by the time you graduate from the academy.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
You will need to have graduated from a US high school, have a G.E.D. or equivalent, or have a CHSPE Certificate.
CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENT
Anyone with the legal right to work in the U.S. under federal law can serve as an LAPD police officer. The legal right to work must be obtained prior to acceptance and enrollment in the LAPD Police Academy.
VACCINATION REQUIREMENT
You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or receive an exemption in accordance with Los Angeles City Ordinance 187134.
